0.1 Welcome to the Northern Counties Safety Group

The forerunner of Northern Counties Safety Group was formed in 1972, and was reformed into a “Limited” company in 1976 under “Memorandum and Articles of Association”.

The updated objectives for which the group was established are, in summary:-

• Provide members with access to at least one professionally qualified Health and Safety Advisor
• Maintain an organisation for the giving of advice and opinion on matters affecting or relating to safety, health and welfare in the construction industry.
• To act as advisors on the application and implementation of "The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations" and regulations concerned with the same or similar subject matter.
• To promote interest in, disseminate knowledge about and arrange discussion, instruction and training to further the use and improvement of safety and accident prevention and practices within the construction industry.
• To collate and disseminate information on all matters relating to industrial safety precautions or regulations and to print and publish papers, pamphlets and other information with regard thereto and to hold meetings, courses, lectures, discussions and seminars.
• To provide advice and technical assistance to businesses in the carrying out by them of training to their own employees in safety procedures.

Membership of NCSG is by application and subscriptions are based on the applicant’s company ‘turnover’, with a sliding scale of charges as turnover increases. A minimum subscription fee of £2200 + VAT applies to companies with a turnover up to £1m.
